Showcase Folquébec @ La Grande Rencontre 2009

The Showcase Folquébec provides an opportunity for jury-selected Québec artists to show their stuff to both festival audiences and presenters from North America and Europe, in an effort to develop new cultural markets.

13h30 La Giroflée specializes in collecting and breathing creative, new life into the “complaintes” of their ancestors.

14h30 Alise Marlane Writes thoughtful, playfully lyrical, jazz-infused folk to accompany your mood of contentedness and melancholy. Her repertoire covers a broad spectrum of subject matter briming with distinctive guitar work and some forrays into mandolin territory. An unmistakably rich and original sound.

15h30 Baqqhus Simple and purely Québécois, Baqqhus performs original and traditional songs and reels from the Lanaudière region on guitar, accordion and fiddle.

16h30 The Echo Hunters Darlings of the Montréal folk-roots scene, their music (original) is the collective oeuvre of longtime friends with a splash of ‘70s colour in its powerful guitarwork and smooth harmonies.
